Final Fantasy Turn Based Gaming Game
This is a turn-based game, meaning that the flow of the game is
sectioned into chapters, or “turns.” For example, turns might represent
units of time, like years. The players in turn-based gaming games are allowed to
“think” before committing to some action. Sometimes they are allowed a
limited time, and sometimes unlimited time. Theoretically this leads
to better choices.
In some contexts, such as browser gaming, turn-based gaming may mean
that game play can go on beyond one play session. This can make turns
take a very long time to finish.
In this Gamesloo Final Fantasy franchise game, you play the role of a knight
named Cecil from a place called Baron. You have to save the world from
an evil character named Golbez. While trying to keep Golbez from getting
his hands to some powerful crystals you find out about your backstory
as you go through three levels to battle Golbez’s servants.
This was the first Final Fantasy game to introduce the character driven
plot, and it included a musical score by Nobuo Uematsu. It is still
considered to be one of the greatest gaming games of all time.
You, as Cecil, have to complete missions to advance the story line. All
the characters move around and interact with other characters (including
enemies) on a special map representing many settings: forests, towers,
caves, etc.
In one castle Cecil finds out that his Princess, named Rosa, is locked
up in another castle. In order to get into the castle he has
to venture through underground water systems connecting the castles.
In battle situations you have several options: you can fight, you can
use magic, you can retreat, change positions, pause, or you can
parry. Characters and monsters have a “life bar” indicating how much
life they have left. If no life is left, the character faints, or if it’s a
monster, it dies. Sleeping in an inn, or using some item such as a
potion can restore the character’s life bar.
You can use swords, armor, and other equipment that you either buy in
villages or find in dungeons to better defend yourself against monsters
and to inflict more damage. The placement of the character
affects the distribution of the damage, both given and received. You
proceed through the story line on a path, though there are some side
missions available as well.
All the characters have certain strengths and weaknesses. If a character
has, say strong magic, he may not have very good defense. A character
who excels in physical fighting may not be very agile. With experience
characters improve their abilities and acquire new ones. There are
three types of magic involved in the gaming game. White magic is used for
healing and support. Black magic is offensive, and Summon magic is for
calling monsters to attack.
Cecil changes during the course of the game. He starts out as a Dark
Knight, but later he becomes a Paladin.
